Leaving Inconsistency

چکیده
Two descriptions are inconsistent if there is no way to satisfy them altogether. Inconsistencies may arise under many circumstances in the software lifecycle. They are often inevitable, for instance, when the descriptions are produced or evolve independently from each other. Sometimes they may even be desirable, for instance, to allow further elicitation of requirements descriptions being acquired from multiple stakeholders.

متن کاملUsing Abduction to Evolve Inconsistent Requirements Specifications
Requirements specifications are often inconsistent. Inconsistencies may arise because multiple conflicting requirements are embodied in these specifications, or because the specifications themselves are in a transient stage of evolutionary development. In this paper we argue that such inconsistencies, rather than being undesirable, are actually useful drivers for changing the requirements speci...
متن کاملReputation and Optimal Contracts for Central Bankers
We implement optimal economic outcomes at the lowest social cost by combining reputation and contracting mechanisms to overcome the time-inconsistency problem of monetary policy associated with an inflation bias. We characterize the conditions under which the reputation force alone induces a central bank to behave in a socially optimal way. When these conditions fail, an incentive contract is i...

Learners frequently experience phonologically inconsistent input, such as exposure to multiple accents. Yet, little is known about the consequences of phonological inconsistency for language learning. The current study examines vocabulary acquisition with different degrees of phonological inconsistency, ranging from no inconsistency (e.g., both talkers call a picture /vig/) to mild but detectab...
